MetalliGraphs authenticator Brian Silver provides an expert opinion only for Metallica autographs. His narrow focus for just the 8 people that have ever been in the band has allowed him to become recognized as the number one trusted authenticator for Metallica. His constant research and his personal passion for collecting Metallica signed and rare items, has given him worldwide recognition within the Metallica collectors community.
Every Metallica item submitted will be reviewed by Brian where he will carefully examine each signature and cross reference them with the database he has accumulated of examples of Metallica’s signatures and forgeries. Brian has become an expert in their signing habits and consistencies in each different era of the band and will use this information to determine the authenticity of an item.
Items deemed to be authentic will receive the “Eye of the Beholder” Letter of Authenticity from MetalliGraphs. Each Eye of the Beholder LOA will contain a brief description of the item, along with a photo, and will be assigned a code for our database, and will have the MetalliGraphs official authenticity hologram.
Autographs
1981-1982
“Power Metal Era”
From an ad placed in "The Recycler" Lars and James connected to form Metallica. Adding James’ high school friend Ron McGovney and Dave Mustaine because he had good equipment, the Power Metal era was formed.
1983-1986
“Cliff Era”
Beginning as a band playing gigs around LA, San Francisco, and the East Coast, they created their fan base with their unique style of music. This classic line-up gave Metallica the reputation of loud, fast and Alcoholica… MUYA!
1986-2001
“Jason Era”
This era began with them performing as an opening act for Ozzy, but by the time Jason Newsted left the band they had claimed world domination for heavy music and it made them one of the biggest bands on the planet.
2003-Present
“Rob Era”
Already the biggest hard band in the world, a new era in Metallica began. Putting past troubles behind them, they continued to push the creative envelope with bigger tours, milestone events and even a movie. Metallica keeps on going strong into their 4th decade as a band.
